The Japanese technology investor is offering a corporate guarantee to reassure lenders after earlier efforts stalled over how to value private-company collateral.
SoftBank Group has reopened discussions with a lender consortium over a $10 billion margin loan backed by its stake in OpenAI, after an earlier attempt stalled because banks were uneasy about valuing shares in a private company. To improve the structure, SoftBank is now offering a corporate guarantee, which would give lenders recourse to the company if the OpenAI collateral loses value. The consortium is expected to include Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase and Mizuho Financial Group, according to people familiar with the matter.
