Comments on Laura Shin’s Unchained podcast coincided with the June 22, 2026 launch of Ethlabs, formed by five former Ethereum Foundation researchers to speed settlement and bolster ETH’s monetary value case.
ETH still lacks a clear value narrative after failing to break $5,000 in five years, Ansgar Dietrichs, a former Ethereum Foundation researcher and Ethlabs member, said on Laura Shin’s Unchained podcast. His remarks came as Ethlabs launched on June 22, 2026 with five former senior Ethereum Foundation researchers, saying it would work on faster transaction settlement and strengthen ETH’s monetary value case. Support cited in the older report included Bitmine, Sharplink and Consensys founder Joe Lubin. Separately, CryptoQuant data showed more than 32% of Ethereum’s supply, about 39.5 million ETH, is staked while exchange balances continue to decline. The newer report cautioned that the launch should not be treated as proof of direct Ethereum Foundation funding or of any guaranteed price move, given execution, liquidity and regulatory risks.
