The partnership gives Takeda exclusive worldwide rights to selected therapies, with InSilico receiving about $60 million upfront and near-term payments to deploy its Pharma.AI platform across Takeda’s therapeutic areas.
Takeda and InSilico have formalized a strategic AI-driven drug-discovery collaboration worth up to about $600 million, expanding Takeda’s use of InSilico’s proprietary Pharma.AI platform across its therapeutic areas. InSilico will lead AI-enabled discovery and identify molecules that meet predefined scientific and early development criteria, while Takeda will use its global development capabilities to advance selected candidates through clinical validation. The agreement gives Takeda exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture and commercialize therapies emerging from the collaboration. InSilico said it will receive about $60 million in project initiation fees, near-term payments and milestones, with the potential for additional preclinical, clinical, commercial and sales milestone payments, plus tiered royalties on future sales. The deal underscores the drug industry’s broader push to use generative AI, automation and robotics to improve candidate quality, accelerate research and raise the odds of producing differentiated medicines.
