The company says cannabis retailers also face elevated counterfeit-currency risk, arguing authentication should be built into counting workflows to strengthen reconciliation, accountability and internal cash controls.
AccuBANKER said cash handling remains a critical operational issue for cannabis dispensaries, where limited access to traditional banking leaves many retailers managing large volumes of physical currency. In a July 07, 2026 press release from Miami, Florida, the company said counterfeit exposure is heightened in that environment and argued that authentication should be built directly into the counting process rather than treated as a separate manual check. It said automatic counterfeit detection can test multiple security features on each note, including ultraviolet, magnetic and infrared characteristics, as well as watermarks, security threads and dimensions, while manual visual inspection becomes less reliable under time pressure and high volume. The company said a counterfeit caught at the counter or during reconciliation is less costly than one found after deposit, when rejected deposits, reconciliation gaps and investigative work can follow. AccuBANKER framed routine authentication as part of broader standardized closeout infrastructure, saying consistent verification supports cleaner reconciliation, stronger internal controls, documented audit trails and more scalable multi-location operations. CEO Matthew Peon said built-in detection reduces inconsistency and stress for employees, adding that operators that treat authentication as routine infrastructure are less likely to face costly counterfeit surprises.
