The deal gives Lockheed Martin control of an Advent-owned naval defense business focused on anti-submarine warfare and undersea defense technologies after years of private equity-led consolidation.
Lockheed Martin has agreed to acquire naval defense company Ultra Maritime from Advent for $3.45 billion, formalizing a deal for a business focused on anti-submarine warfare and undersea defense technologies. Ultra Maritime is part of Cobham Ultra, the group created after Advent bought Cobham in 2019 and combined it with Ultra Electronics following its 2022 takeover. Earlier this year, Ultra Maritime received a U.S. Navy development contract for an underwater acoustic decoy designed to protect ships or submarines from torpedoes. The acquisition adds a specialized maritime defense business to Lockheed Martin’s portfolio at a time when demand for naval and undersea military technologies remains a strategic focus.
