FHLBank San Francisco said it awarded $66.3 million in 2026 Affordable Housing Program grants to support 45 developments across Arizona, California and Nevada, helping create nearly 2,900 homes for low-income households. The 2026 awards were made in partnership with member financial institutions and marked an increase from 2025, with $16.6 million more funding, 14 additional developments and about 850 more affordable homes across the three-state region. Of the total, $60.1 million came through the AHP General Fund for 39 projects in California and Arizona that will create nearly 2,700 homes, while $6.2 million came through the Nevada Targeted Fund for six projects expected to create 218 homes. In Arizona, $7.7 million in AHP General Fund grants will support five developments expected to create 292 affordable homes in Mesa, Camp Verde, Prescott Valley and Yuma, serving seniors, low-income families, tribal communities, people with disabilities and formerly unhoused individuals. The Arizona allocation was nearly $1 million above the prior year, and the bank cited National Low Income Housing Coalition data showing the state needs more than 130,000 affordable and available units for extremely low-income renter households. Since 1990, the bank said it has awarded $1.48 billion in AHP grants, supporting nearly 160,000 affordable homes across its district.
