The United States Mint said its Philadelphia facility struck 250 special 2.5-ounce silver 2026 Declaration of Independence quarters on July 4 as part of the nation’s Semiquincentennial observance. The collectible coins, produced under 31 U.S.C. 5112(u), bear no mint mark, carry a special “July 4” privy mark, and were struck sequentially with edge numbers from 1 through 250. The Mint described them as a silver collectible version of the Declaration of Independence privy mark quarters, identical in design to those coins but with each piece laser-numbered on the edge. Mint Director Paul Hollis said the limited mintage was intended to commemorate 250 years of U.S. independence and mark the Fourth of July during America’s Semiquincentennial. The Mint said the coins will be auctioned at a later date. The release adds another Semiquincentennial product to the Mint’s broader 2026 lineup, which also includes a five-product Best of the Mint series featuring historic U.S. coin designs.
