As Metaplanet completes its roughly 2.1 billion yen Siiibo acquisition, it is also studying a digital credit market with JPYC, Progmat and others using Bitcoin, stablecoins and security tokens in Japan.
Siiibo Securities is set to become Metaplanet Securities Inc. on July 13, 2026, pending shareholder approval, as Metaplanet moves to complete its roughly 2.1 billion yen acquisition of the Japanese brokerage and use its Type I Financial Instruments Business Operator license and online platform to expand regulated Bitcoin finance in Japan. Under its broader Project Nova strategy, Metaplanet has said it aims to develop yield-focused Bitcoin products, BTC-linked bonds, tokenized securities and Bitcoin-backed digital credit products. In a separate feasibility study, Metaplanet, JPYC, Progmat, Metaplanet Securities and two other companies are examining a digital credit market using Bitcoin, stablecoins and security tokens, including a proposed structure with 24/7 trading and daily interest accrual. Metaplanet said it plans to target its roughly 250,000 shareholders as an initial customer base. The company held 40,177 BTC as of May 31 and about 43,000 BTC as of early July 2026, according to the company. Product approvals, timelines, yields and final structures have not been disclosed and would remain subject to regulatory scrutiny in Japan.
