The move was finalized on July 8, 2026 for a reported £40 million after Chelsea and Sporting reached an agreement in principle on March 14, 2025 and arranged for Quenda to remain with Sporting for the rest of the 2025/26 season before joining Stamford Bridge. Born in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau on April 30, 2007, Quenda came through Sporting’s academy and arrives after developing into one of the club’s most highly rated young attacking players. He can play on the right wing or at wing-back, offering manager Xabi Alonso tactical flexibility, and his game has been noted for his left-footed threat from the right side, pressing intensity and defensive work rate. Quenda also developed under Ruben Amorim in Sporting’s 3-4-2-1 setup. Chelsea faced competition for his signature, including from Manchester United, before completing the deal.
