Kraken is rebuilding its mobile app around autonomous AI agents that can monitor markets, recommend trades and place orders on behalf of retail users, marking a shift from its earlier positioning as a recommendation tool that required approval for every transaction. The exchange said the relaunch is a full revamp rather than a routine update, with goal-based software designed to run in the background, adapt to previous outcomes and organize trading activity around user-defined objectives. Kraken said users keep the final say on each trade and that built-in risk management will align decisions with preset risk tolerance, while also warning that AI-generated recommendations can lead to capital losses and may not work for every individual. In the U.S., Kraken said advice on crypto assets comes from Payward Interactive, Inc., while advice on securities comes from Kraken Adviser LLC, an SEC-registered investment adviser. The move comes as Gemini, Coinbase, OKX and Binance add AI features of their own, but Kraken is presenting AI agents as the core of its app rather than an add-on, as the exchange also expands U.S. crypto perpetual futures, adds Solana DEX trading and prepares for a possible public listing.
