Lookonchain said the early investor completed a 5,000-BTC sale that began on Nov. 26, 2024, turning an estimated $1.66 million purchase about 12 years ago into roughly $436 million in proceeds.
An early Bitcoin holder has fully exited a 5,000 BTC position after selling the remaining 1,000 coins for about $65.56 million, according to blockchain analytics account Lookonchain. The investor is said to have bought the 5,000 BTC roughly 12 years ago at an average price of $332 each, for a cost basis of about $1.66 million, and sold the holdings over several months from Nov. 26, 2024 at an average exit price of about $87,151 per Bitcoin. Lookonchain estimated total proceeds at roughly $436 million and profit at about $434.3 million, or around 262 times the initial investment.
