The gauge compares Bitcoin’s 90-day performance with the top 100 non-stablecoin, non-wrapped tokens, with 75% outperformance needed to signal altcoin season.
CoinMarketCap’s altcoin season index rose to 54, up four points from the previous day. The indicator measures whether capital is favoring altcoins over Bitcoin by comparing Bitcoin’s price performance with that of the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, excluding stablecoins and wrapped coins, over the past 90 days. A market is classified as being in altcoin season when 75% of those coins outperform Bitcoin during that period, while the reverse is considered Bitcoin season. Readings closer to 100 indicate stronger altcoin-season conditions.
