A July 21 post by crypto personality “29,” or @wrss29, said he lost 189 SOL, worth about $14,000, after handing an unlocked phone to a woman at a Bali beach club who asked to add herself on Instagram. The account described a night of drinking, a transfer from a Phantom wallet, and a rapid police response involving 8 to 12 undercover intelligence officers who allegedly identified and arrested the women involved. The story spread widely on X, but attention shifted the next day when @StarPlatinum_ published a thread identifying @wrss29 as Ronnie Magrehbi, also linked to the alias Ronny Fargo. That thread included images and references to prior allegations and court cases, prompting users to revisit Magrehbi’s criminal history and his activity in crypto markets. Public records cited in the report show Magrehbi faced armed robbery and burglary charges in Miami Beach in January 2020 and was later charged in New Jersey federal court with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit computer fraud and abuse. Court records indicate a guilty plea was entered in a case involving unauthorized access to social media accounts, ransom demands, and failure to restore full access. The Crypto Times reported that posts circulating online also tied the figure to a 2025 meme coin scam presented as charity, though he has not directly responded to claims about his identity. The clash between the Bali theft narrative and those past allegations fueled debate over crypto security, reputational risk, and how quickly online identities can be connected through public records and old investigations.
