Mirae Asset has completed its move to 97% ownership, rebranding Korbit as Digital X and positioning it as a hub for tokenized assets, stablecoins and broader digital finance.
Mirae Asset has completed its acquisition of about 97% of South Korean crypto exchange Korbit, finalizing the follow-on share purchase that had been expected to lift its stake beyond the initially completed 92.06% holding. The company is rebranding Korbit as Digital X as it shifts the business toward a broader digital finance platform centered on tokenized real-world assets, security token offerings, stablecoins and traditional asset products. Herald Business reported that Mirae Asset founder and Global Strategy Officer Park Hyeon-joo described the new entity in an internal email as a core part of the group’s “Mirae Asset 3.0” strategy to combine digital assets with traditional finance. Mirae also plans to prioritize anti-money laundering controls, customer verification, information security and fraud detection as South Korea develops rules for crypto and tokenized securities. Korbit has said its existing services will continue without changes following the acquisition.
