Investors often view Saylor’s chart posts as a precursor to treasury disclosures; Strategy held 843,775 BTC and $3.225 billion in cash after a recent stock sale that did not fund bitcoin purchases.
Michael Saylor, Strategy’s founder and executive chairman, posted the company’s bitcoin acquisition chart on X on July 26 with the message, “We’re gonna need another color,” reviving speculation that Strategy may soon disclose another update to its Bitcoin holdings. Odaily said similar Bitcoin Tracker-style posts have previously been followed by changes in Strategy’s disclosed holdings, often about two days later, though the post does not confirm a new purchase. The chart showed Strategy holding 843,775 BTC accumulated through 113 purchases, acquired for $63.69 billion at an average price of $75,653 per bitcoin. Based on the chart, those holdings were worth about $54.36 billion, implying an unrealized decline of roughly $9.47 billion. The signal came after a July 20 SEC filing showed Strategy sold 2,732,318 MSTR shares for $263.5 million in net proceeds during July 13-19 and did not buy bitcoin. That raised the company’s U.S. dollar reserve to $3.225 billion. Strategy still has authority to sell up to $23.53 billion of additional common stock through existing at-the-market offerings, leaving flexibility to fund future bitcoin purchases, build cash reserves, or meet other corporate needs.
