Major Cities Chiefs Association backs CLARITY Act as White House reviews ethics revisions
Police chiefs endorsed the bill’s anti-money laundering, information-sharing and crypto kiosk provisions while the White House reviewed proposed ethics changes with state attorneys general ahead of a pivotal weekend for supporters.
The Major Cities Chiefs Association endorsed the latest draft of the CLARITY Act, saying it would strengthen investigations into digital-asset financial crime through expanded anti-money laundering and suspicious transaction reporting, formalized information-sharing with crypto companies, tighter crypto kiosk safeguards, temporary transaction freezes, mixer research and fraud-prevention measures. The endorsement adds to support from the National Fraternal Order of Police, while Senator Catherine Cortez Masto said suggested changes she submitted with two law-enforcement groups left them feeling good about the bill’s direction. At the same time, supporters were watching a pivotal weekend as the White House reviewed proposed revisions to the bill’s ethics provisions with state attorneys general, according to Crypto in America host Eleanor Terrett on social media. The long-delayed U.S. crypto market structure bill passed the House last year with strong bipartisan support but has remained stalled through much of 2026, with debate focused on stablecoin yield, ethics safeguards and crypto-related conflicts of interest.
