The move comes amid broader supply-chain strain that also includes a roughly 30% price increase by Ajinomoto for Ajinomoto Build-up Film, or ABF, a resin insulation material used in the substrates of nearly all advanced AI chip packages. Analysts say the combined pressures reflect how AI infrastructure demand is pushing up costs across the electronics stack, from motherboard materials to advanced chip packaging. Board Channels said MSI and Gigabyte may introduce their own third-quarter motherboard price increases, while forecasts cited in the Ajinomoto report suggest ABF shortages could persist into 2027 and beyond.
