RippleX and the XRP Ledger Foundation warned on Aug. 6 that a fraudulent "XRP Rewards Scanner" campaign on X is using fabricated screenshots and impersonation tactics to trick users into connecting wallets under the false promise of recovering unclaimed XRP. Ripple's developer-facing unit said the main risk comes when victims approve a transaction after connecting a wallet, potentially handing attackers access to digital assets, while the Foundation said no XRP airdrops or rewards are being offered by it, Ripple or community wallet providers and urged users never to share wallet keys or recovery phrases. Both groups told users to verify announcements through official channels, review wallet permissions carefully and report phishing posts and impersonation accounts. The warning extends a pattern seen in July 2025 and December 2024 XRP scam waves and comes as Seoul police pursue suspects in a fake Flare Network XRP staking case and European regulators flag MiCA-related impersonation scams.
