Crypto perpetual trading weakened further in July 2026 as centralized exchange volume fell to $4 trillion, the lowest since December 2023, and decentralized exchange volume dropped to $531 billion, the weakest level since June 2025. CryptoRank said Binance led July CEX perpetual volume with $1.4 trillion, ahead of OKX at $607 billion and Bybit at $300 billion, while Coinglass data showed spot trading volume fell 23.6% from $17.8 billion to $13.6 billion between July 1 and July 31. DeFiLlama data showed DEX open interest eased to $17.9 billion from a September 2025 peak of $19.4 billion, and TradingBeats data showed seven-day Perp DEX volume down 13.7% with 30-day turnover of about $498.2 billion, 63.4% below the October 2025 peak. Hyperliquid remained the top DEX with $199 billion in reported 30-day volume, while tokenized real-world assets accounted for 32% of its second-quarter trading activity, 6.6% of its $169 million quarterly revenue, and 52% of weekly volume between July 13 and July 19. Earlier platform data also showed softer returns for market-making vaults such as HLP and LLP even as bridge balances rose, suggesting capital stayed on-platform despite weaker leveraged trading demand.
