Mexico's car exports fell 9.7% year-on-year to 261,534 units in July 2026, extending a 9.2% decline in June as changing US trade policies continued to cloud manufacturers' export plans. The pressure came as US President Trump, in his second term, imposed tariffs on multiple countries including Mexico, while his administration decided not to renew the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement). The pact will remain in force for another decade unless a member withdraws, but annual reviews could still bring significant changes. The United States and Mexico are also continuing bilateral trade negotiations. By manufacturer, export volumes fell most sharply for Mercedes at 97.7%, followed by Nissan at 75.6%, Mazda at 35.4% and Honda at 21.3%.
