Montera Infrastructure backed Texas Governor Greg Abbott's call for clearer standards and greater transparency around data center development, joining Digital Realty in publicly supporting closer review as artificial intelligence and cloud demand expand the state's digital infrastructure footprint. In a letter to Abbott, Montera Founder and CEO Eanna Murphy said the company will disclose power use, water consumption and community impacts through the state's review process, support annual reporting of electricity and water use to the Public Utility Commission of Texas, and fund its own interconnection agreements so those costs do not fall on residential ratepayers. Montera said its projects use closed-loop water systems, setbacks and noise mitigation measures, and it urged the Public Utility Commission of Texas and ERCOT to move quickly to separate development-ready projects from speculative proposals.
