LLT paid Streeting £30,000 in August 2022 and £7,500 in August 2023 to fund a part-time policy adviser before the organisation later ceased operations. Streeting says the donations were properly declared and that he did not know the original source of LLT's money, while Lawrence says the Streeting payments came from a separate pool of funds. The episode has sharpened questions about UK donation rules, which require disclosure of the immediate donor but not deeper tracing of funds, as US authorities have already pursued clawbacks of political money tied to Bankman-Fried's misuse of FTX customer assets.
