Justin Mateen, a Tinder co-founder and American Bitcoin board member, bought 306,981 Class A shares of the Trump family-backed miner on Aug. 5 and Aug. 6 for about $1.93 million, lifting his beneficial ownership to 492,297 shares after the company's recent reverse stock split. The purchases followed second-quarter results that showed a roughly $57 million net loss even as the Nasdaq-listed company mined about 932 bitcoin, a quarterly record, and expanded its corporate treasury to more than 8,000 BTC under its mine-and-hold strategy. Mateen had already disclosed a March 3, 2026 purchase of 1.8 million pre-split shares for about $1.85 million and later received 46,404 restricted stock units on July 29, 2026, underscoring continued insider exposure as Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. remain among American Bitcoin's backers and Matt Prusak, former president and interim chief financial officer of American Bitcoin, departed for Giga Energy.
