Nvidia is moving deeper into AI data-center power infrastructure with a deal to invest $2 billion for a 20% stake in Lancium and up to another $1 billion if the developer meets grid interconnection requirements, according to The Information. The transaction values Lancium at about $10 billion, including its land holdings and grid-connection portfolio, and gives Nvidia a more direct role in securing the electricity and sites needed for AI computing. Lancium develops power infrastructure for AI data centers and is involved in Stargate, a $500 billion project backed by OpenAI, Oracle and SoftBank. The push fits a broader Nvidia effort to help customers lock in computing capacity, including a long-term lease on a Hut 8 hyperscale data center that has already secured power and could be worth as much as $50 billion.
