Circle's USDC stablecoin shrank by about 100 million tokens in the seven days through Aug. 6 after roughly 6.3 billion USDC was issued and about 6.4 billion redeemed, according to official data. Total circulation stood at 71.8 billion USDC, while reserves were about $72 billion, including about $51.8 billion in overnight reverse Treasury repo, about $9 billion in Treasury securities with maturities under three months, about $10 billion in deposits at systemically important institutions, and about $1.2 billion in other bank deposits. The slight weekly contraction shows redemptions marginally outpaced issuance, while the reserve mix indicates Circle continues to rely on highly liquid government-linked assets and bank cash to support convertibility and redemptions.
