Houthi forces said they attacked Saudi Aramco’s Jazan refinery again on Aug. 9, with spokesperson Yahya Saree saying the site was targeted by drone. Saudi Arabia’s energy ministry said a fire broke out at the 400,000-barrel-per-day refinery and was later extinguished, with no injuries reported, but did not state the cause. The refinery had already been shut since July 27 after an earlier Houthi attack damaged the Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle complex and tank farm area, according to a consultancy note seen by Reuters. Following the latest claimed attack, U.S. heating oil prices rose more than 7% to about $4.19 a gallon, reflecting concern over an already tight global diesel market strained by disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, Russia’s fuel export restrictions and constrained refining capacity.
