Robinhood is unlikely to issue its own token, Nansen CEO Alex Svanevik said in a recent interview, arguing that a new crypto asset could conflict with the company’s listed stock, HOOD. The comments push back on earlier market speculation that Robinhood might follow some crypto projects by launching an ecosystem token. Instead, Svanevik said the company appears more likely to treat blockchain as a base-layer technology tool rather than build its business model around a token economy. He added that Robinhood Chain, an Arbitrum-based Ethereum layer-2 network, already runs within the Ethereum ecosystem and uses a gas token, reducing the need for a separate platform token. In his view, the company’s blockchain push is centered on improving product capabilities through infrastructure rather than raising funds or creating a new economic model through token issuance.
