Matt Furie, the artist known for creating Pepe, said on Aug. 9 that his X account had been hacked after it returned to activity in early August following nine months of silence and posted content tied to HOODRAT, DORK and BOYZ, including contract addresses. Most of those posts were later deleted. Furie said he does not endorse any altcoins and added that his website had previously carried language warning about such activity. On-chain analyst @StandartXBT said HOODRAT's market capitalization briefly surged after the related post before the token's price fell. The analyst also said that after DORK was deployed, the deployer executed bundled buys, removed liquidity and sold, generating significant ETH profits from the launch capital. Using web archives, @StandartXBT said the warning language did not previously appear on Furie's website and that no earlier trace was found on X, raising doubts about the credibility of the hacking statement.
