Alteogen shares rose sharply in early trading on Monday as strong second-quarter earnings, BlackRock Fund Advisors' disclosure of a 5.03% holding, and a higher broker target price supported sentiment. By 9:49 a.m. on the Korea Exchange, the South Korean biotechnology company was trading at 343,500 won, up 12.62% from the previous session, after touching an intraday high of 346,000 won, extending its winning run to seven straight sessions since July 31. Alteogen said on August 7 that consolidated second-quarter revenue reached 68.89 billion won, up 269.5% from a year earlier, while operating profit was 34.18 billion won versus a loss of 426 million won and net profit turned positive at 29.99 billion won from a net loss of 34.32 billion won. BlackRock's stake increase came amid a much wider expansion of its South Korean holdings this year, including multiple new or enlarged 5% positions across biotech, platform, construction and power equipment stocks, though some analysts cautioned that BlackRock's large passive-management business makes it difficult to treat each filing as a direct active-buy signal.
