BDACS signed a memorandum of understanding on Aug. 10 with digital-asset payment solutions provider ZEKTO and LK Ventures, operator of the self-photo booth brand Life4Cuts, to pilot a won-denominated stablecoin payment system in physical stores. The companies plan to integrate BDACS-issued KRW1 into Life4Cuts' payment and settlement infrastructure so customers can use the token directly at checkout, with the system designed to support real-time transfers between digital assets and traditional finance. Life4Cuts, which operates about 1,000 stores in 30 countries, said the trial could make payments easier for foreign tourists in South Korea and could later be extended to overseas locations. ZEKTO also plans to connect its proprietary payments network to KRW1 and said it obtained patents in March related to blockchain-based collateralized stablecoin operations management and stablecoin service systems.
