GLN International, a subsidiary of Hana Bank, said its partnership with Coocon adds about 500,000 Merchant Presented Mode, or MPM, Seoul Pay merchants to its South Korean QR payment network, lifting total coverage to roughly 1.5 million outlets when combined with about 1 million Customer Presented Mode, or CPM, merchants built through Hana Card and other payment links. The company said transaction volume and value on the network rose about 1,000% in the first half of 2026 from the second half of 2025 as usage spread from Myeong-dong to Seongsu and other tourism hubs including Busan and Jeju. Coocon had previously said the tie-up expanded Seoul Pay's overseas mobile payment reach to 22 countries and around 50 global payment services, but GLN now says inbound QR payments are currently available for visitors from Taiwan (China) and are due to extend later this year to travelers from the United States, Canada, Singapore, Vietnam and Mongolia. The companies have also outlined broader plans including wider merchant coverage in major tourist cities and potential Korean won cash withdrawals through Coocon's ATM network.
