SK Hynix employees are preparing to launch a unified labor union that would combine production-line and technical-office workers, with formal membership exceeding 1,250 after organizers filed for registration on the 8th. The group opposes any move to replace the profit-sharing bonus, or PS, agreed by labor and management with stock or other instruments, says cash payment must be preserved, and aims to recruit more than half of the roughly 35,000 workforce to become the sole bargaining unit. It has also sought support from Samsung Electronics' cross-company union, which has been campaigning for greater transparency in performance-bonus calculations. SK Hynix still negotiates separately with three existing unions, and the new body may initially be limited to observing this year's wage talks. Earlier related online communities had drawn about 4,000 workers, and market participants have said a prolonged dispute could cloud second-half HBM4 output growth and supplies to major customers such as Nvidia, although operations have not been affected so far.
