Yageo reported record July consolidated revenue of NT$16.13 billion, up 5.0% from June and 51.5% from a year earlier, as AI-related demand continued to drive sales. The company's results had helped lift Taiwan's passive components shares on Aug. 11, but by Aug. 12 the broader market rebound had extended beyond that group, with the benchmark index closing at 45,518.07, up 397.35 points, or 0.88%, above the 45,500 level. TSMC rose NT$20 to NT$2,415, while Hon Hai and Quanta each gained more than 2%, helping anchor the advance. Market leadership rotated toward small- and mid-cap names tied to memory, PCB and chipmaking themes: Nanya PCB and Powerchip both hit daily limits, Phison jumped more than 5%, and Etron Technology added more than 2%. By contrast, MediaTek and Delta Electronics slipped, memory names Nanya Technology and Winbond gave up early gains to finish down more than 1%, and Yageo fell 2.43%, showing that passive components were no longer leading the rebound. The broader backdrop was also strong. The Taipei Exchange said combined July revenue for 890 TPEx-listed companies rose 43% from a year earlier to NT$357.6 billion, with semiconductors, computer and peripheral equipment, and electronic components distribution leading growth as AI demand, memory pricing and supply-chain restocking strengthened. Analysts said Taiwan's rally was still in a consolidation phase without a single dominant sector, and that sustaining the uptrend will depend on whether heavyweight electronics shares and rotating groups such as memory, PCB, IC design and silicon photonics can continue to take turns leading. Post-market data showed the three major institutional investor groups were net buyers by NT$28.18 billion, including NT$22.33 billion from foreign investors and mainland Chinese capital, underscoring continued downside support for the index even as futures positioning remained cautious.
