Alibaba Cloud said its CUBE 5.0 modular architecture can deliver fully operational large AIDC data centers in 100 days, sharply below traditional construction timelines of 6 to 12 months in China and 12 to 18 months in the United States. The company said the system cuts overall construction costs by more than 10% and lifts prefabrication across five core systems to 90%, up from about 30% in earlier CUBE versions. Those systems cover power supply, cooling, security, intelligent management and fire protection. Alibaba Cloud has already deployed pilot projects using the modular approach in Ulanqab, China, and said the system has received certifications in Europe and Southeast Asia, pointing to international rollout plans. The company also plans to more than double its global modular data-center production capacity in 2026 as demand for AI infrastructure rises. AI-related revenue now contributes more than 30% of Alibaba Cloud’s total revenue.
