WTI crude futures rose to $80.021 a barrel, briefly crossing the $80 mark, while Brent crude futures climbed to $85.532 a barrel and, according to Gate data cited by Odaily, reached their highest level since Aug. 4. The older report put WTI and Brent up 2.35% and 2.37% on the day, respectively, while the newer report said Brent was up 4.31%. Strength extended across the broader oil futures complex, with SC crude up 2.12% to 543.4 yuan per barrel, low-sulfur fuel oil up 2.05% to 4,671 yuan per tonne, fuel oil up 2.25% to 3,587 yuan per tonne, and asphalt up 0.98% to 4,215 yuan per tonne.
