Immunefi counted 164 hacks through Aug. 3, including 67 incidents above $1 million, and projected 114 such attacks by year-end, which would top the 2024 record of 72. The company said bug bounty payouts totaled $2.32 million in July, with confirmed paid reports up 18% from June and 374 threats prevented, while its review of 1,178 tier-1 audits found a median of zero critical or high-severity bugs and 58 audit competitions uncovered 6.2 serious flaws per engagement versus 1.5 in private audits, at an average cost of $6,548 per critical finding compared with about $66,000 in a private tier-1 audit and an estimated $24.5 million when attackers find the weakness first.
