Ethereum staking has climbed to a record 41.7 million ETH, or about 34.5% of the token's roughly 120.7 million circulating supply, even as ETH fell from around $3,400 in January to about $1,900. The total staked amount has risen by about 5.5 million ETH since January, with Bitfinex data showing deposits held near 36 million ETH through late 2025 before accelerating from February and again between June and August. The increase highlights continued commitment from validators, long-term holders and corporate treasury firms seeking native yield, even though per-validator returns fall as issuance is spread across a larger staked base. The trend has revived debate around EIP-8363, a proposal that would burn a rising share of consensus-layer rewards as staking expands, while U.S. investment products are also broadening access to ETH staking income.
