JBS said Wesley Batista Filho, head of JBS USA and son of controlling shareholder Wesley Batista, will become global CEO in January 2027, succeeding Gilberto Tomazoni in the Brazilian meatpacker's first chief executive change in eight years and returning the founding family to the top operating job. Tomazoni, who has led JBS since 2018, will become vice chairman of the board and a senior adviser. Batista Filho, 34, joined JBS in 2011 and has held senior roles across Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Canada and the United States. JBS says the U.S. business generates more than half of group revenue, and the company credits Tomazoni with lifting revenue 73% to US$86.2 billion, expanding into new protein categories, strengthening branded and value-added products, investing in biotechnology, reaching investment-grade status and completing a New York Stock Exchange listing. U.S.-listed shares fell about 5.5% after the announcement. Batista Filho said JBS will target expansion in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Oceania after an Indonesia deal last week, while investing in higher-value products and expanding its egg and fish businesses. The move follows the 2024 return of Wesley and Joesley Batista to JBS's board after they were acquitted in a Brazilian insider-trading case tied to a sealed plea agreement.
