Uttar Pradesh Police is preparing to train more than 4,000 newly recruited sub-inspectors in cryptocurrency crime investigation, adding a dedicated module to the basic course at the Dr BR Ambedkar Police Academy in Moradabad and other Police Training Schools across the state. The programme, reported by The Times of India on Monday, is expected to begin shortly and will cover blockchain basics, digital wallets, cryptocurrency transactions, tracing on-chain transactions, identifying the movement of crypto assets and investigating crypto-linked financial offences. Officials said the aim is to help frontline officers recognize potential crypto-related crime, understand how digital assets are used in financial offences and preserve relevant information before cases move to specialist agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate, Financial Intelligence Unit and Central Bureau of Investigation. The move follows a similar blockchain-forensics training programme in Tamil Nadu in May 2026 and comes as Indian authorities broaden their use of blockchain-linked tools, including a blockchain-based record-management proposal discussed on August 7, 2026, during the Centre's Supreme Court update on the NEET exam security overhaul.
