JPMorgan Chase plans to continue hiring in Asia Pacific at a similar pace in 2027 after revenue at its corporate bank in the region grew well above 20% year-to-date, regional heads Oliver Brinkmann and Kerwin Clayton told Reuters. The bank is close to completing a roughly 15% increase in Asia Pacific corporate banking staff this year following a 20% expansion in 2025. Hiring is spanning teams that serve mid-sized and large companies, the innovation economy, financial institutions and non-bank financial institutions. The growth has been driven by Asian companies expanding overseas and stronger investment in artificial intelligence, data centres and supply chains. Brinkmann said markets including Taiwan, South Korea, China and Australia have outpaced the broader regional growth rate, while Southeast Asia is growing by more than 20%, with Malaysia benefiting from foreign investment tied to AI and data centres and Singapore serving as a regional hub. The bank is also allocating more capital to trade finance and working capital finance as intra-Asia trade rises. JPMorgan said client demand has also been strong for data centre and GPU financing, underscoring how AI infrastructure spending is becoming a larger source of corporate banking activity in the region.
