MaxLinear broadened its AI data center infrastructure strategy with the launch of Carmel, a high-speed USB-to-UART chip, alongside its new RackCommander portfolio and two eFuse devices aimed at rack-scale management, power protection and telemetry. Carmel, officially the MxL81434, is designed for console access, system bring-up, debugging and infrastructure management in increasingly dense AI racks. It combines 480 Mbps High-Speed USB, four UART channels supporting up to 15 Mbps each, an I2C master, 32 GPIOs, 1024-byte transmit and receive FIFOs, and ±15 kV HBM ESD protection. Samples are expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. MaxLinear said RackCommander groups its USB UARTs, RS-485 transceivers, GPIO expanders, power management ICs and eFuse devices into a control-plane blueprint for hyperscalers, OEMs and ODMs managing compute nodes, power shelves, cooling systems, sensors and service processors inside AI racks. The company also introduced the MxL745950, a 16V, 50A eFuse with 1mΩ on-resistance, and the MxL745951P, a 16V, 60A stackable eFuse with 0.79mΩ on-resistance and PMBus/I2C telemetry capabilities; both are sampling now and are slated for volume production in the fourth quarter of 2026. WT Microelectronics and WPI Group are positioning the products with cloud and AI infrastructure customers, including collaboration with an unnamed top-tier cloud service provider on RackCommander.
