Thryve.Earth has announced its first offtake commitments with the Symbiosis Coalition, a buyers group for nature-based carbon removal, and with Tencent, bringing total contracted carbon removal to 635,000 tons of CO2. Symbiosis members Google and McKinsey committed to remove more than 335,000 tons over 10 years, marking Symbiosis' first agroforestry project, while Tencent agreed to 300,000 tons in what Thryve.Earth described as the company's first offtake deal outside China. The project aims to restore 6,000 hectares of degraded land on Sulawesi by planting fruit and timber trees in an agroforestry system designed to store carbon and provide durable income for local communities. Thryve.Earth said the financing signal from long-term offtake commitments is critical because the upfront cost of clearing invasive grasses and planting trees is too high for landowners to bear on their own.
