Hankook Tire & Technology posted its highest-ever quarterly revenue in the second quarter as stronger sales of 18-inch-and-larger tires and EV-specific tires supported growth in Europe and China. Consolidated revenue reached 5.68 trillion won ($4.1 billion) and operating profit rose to 559 billion won ($403 million), up 5.8% and 58.1% from a year earlier, the company said on the 11th. Its tire segment delivered record quarterly revenue of 2.81 trillion won ($2.0 billion), up 11.8% year-on-year, while operating profit for that business increased 39.5% to 483.2 billion won ($348 million). High-value products remained central to the performance, with 18-inch-or-larger tires accounting for 49.5% of passenger car and light-truck tire revenue and EV-specific tires making up 31.8%, close to the company’s annual targets of 51% and 33%. Growth was driven by broader original-equipment tire supply and steady replacement tire demand in key markets including Europe and China, where higher-value replacement sales accelerated as EV tires began entering their replacement cycle. Hankook Tire also added Porsche’s 911 Carrera and Audi’s Q7 and Q9 to its original-equipment supply lineup and said it plans to support further expansion through earlier capacity increases at its Tennessee and Hungary plants. Hanon Systems, its thermal management subsidiary, also reported solid results, with second-quarter revenue of 2.88 trillion won ($2.1 billion) and operating profit of 103.7 billion won ($75 million), up 0.6% and 61.2% from a year earlier.
