BNB Smart Chain plans to deploy BEP-675, a block-building change designed to raise throughput without increasing its 100 million gas limit or shortening its 450-millisecond block time. Under the current SendBid process, builders execute a block and validators re-execute every transaction before signing, consuming much of the production window. BEP-675 lets builders submit fully executed blocks through SendBidBlock, allowing validators to sign, broadcast and check them against consensus rules while full verification happens later. BSC said tests on QANet, an internal testnet mirroring its cross-region validator layout, lifted throughput 88% from 1,237 TPS to 2,324 TPS, with average block gas utilization rising from 46.35 million to 84.15 million and median utilization from 29.49 million to 98.99 million. P99 finality stayed at one or two blocks, suggesting the gain comes from better use of existing capacity rather than higher theoretical limits. The previous setup could leave about 25% of blocks almost empty because builders ran out of time, while most tested blocks under BEP-675 approached the gas ceiling. The change requires builders to run full nodes instead of fastnodes and manage competing bids more carefully, though legacy bids remain supported and regular users face no major interface changes. BSC said BEP-675 sits alongside FOCIL and Block-Level Access Lists in its H2 2026 scaling roadmap.
