Digital X Co., the operator of South Korean crypto exchange Korbit, completed its corporate rename from Korbit Co. on Aug. 11 and a day later approved a 50 billion won, or about $35 million, capital increase backed entirely by Mirae Asset Consulting, its 97.15% shareholder. The company will issue 10,078,614 new common shares at 4,961 won each, with payment due Aug. 27, saying the proceeds will strengthen its balance sheet and cover immediate operating needs. The funding comes weeks after Mirae Asset completed its takeover of Korbit, a deal initially struck for 92.06% of the business at about 133.48 billion won and later expanded to around 141.4 billion won after additional share purchases. The fresh capital arrives as Korbit remains a small domestic exchange with roughly 0.5% market share and posted 2025 operating revenue of about 9.8 billion won alongside a 15.4 billion won operating loss. Mirae has positioned Digital X as a vehicle for tokenization, stablecoins and services linking traditional and digital assets, though launch timelines have not been disclosed.
