Binance New Zealand has warned local users about a recent rise in SMS phishing attacks in which scammers impersonate the exchange and lure victims with offers of free cryptocurrency or event tickets. The messages also falsely claim the promotions have been approved by New Zealand's FMA (Financial Markets Authority). Binance told users not to click any links in such texts and not to connect their wallet to suspicious platforms. It said users can check whether contact details and web addresses are genuine through its official verification tool, Binance Verify, to reduce the risk of asset losses.
