A discussion among XRP community members drew a distinction between UNL validators and the broader XRPL node base after one user said XRPL UNL validators had reached the 80% "Sufficiently Updated" threshold for xrpld 3.3.0, a level seen as important for amendment voting momentum. RippleX software engineer Mayukha Vadari said that threshold is the metric most validators use and that 80% of the UNL, or unique node list (a server's trusted validator list), updating is the bare minimum rather than the norm. Another participant, Offledger, said the consideration has historically been measured against the entire network, implying only about 32% of the network had moved to 3.3.0 while 68% was still running version 3.2.1. Figures cited from XRPScan showed 74 nodes on version 3.3.0 and 58 on version 3.2.1. The exchange underscored how the XRP Ledger's consensus system depends on trusted validators within a wider peer-to-peer network that also includes hub and API servers.
