Bitcoin reserves at major exchanges are moving in different directions ahead of the U.S. July Consumer Price Index report due on August 12 at 8:30 a.m. ET, highlighting a market structure signal traders may watch alongside the macro event. Binance’s reserve reached about 666,000 BTC on August 11, its highest level since June 3 and roughly 7,000 BTC, or 1.1%, above that earlier reading. Kraken posted the largest relative gain among the venues cited, rising to around 151,000 BTC from about 142,000 BTC on June 5, an increase of roughly 9,000 BTC, or more than 6%. Bitfinex was broadly unchanged near 421,400 BTC, while OKX slipped slightly to around 103,000 BTC from 105,000 BTC on June 5. The mixed pattern suggests exchange balances are not shifting in a single market-wide direction. That divergence may matter more than any simple bullish or bearish reading because reserve data alone cannot show whether coins are being positioned for trading, custody, internal transfers or other uses.
