Verizon said it is offering $25,000 rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of people involved in vandalism that cut multiple fiber cables and disrupted wireless and wireline communications for thousands of customers in Los Angeles and other parts of Southern California over the past several days. The company said the incidents threatened access to critical communications used by communities, emergency services and healthcare providers, and said it is working with law enforcement as it investigates several recent cases. Verizon cited industry data showing California recorded the largest economic losses from such outages at $252.6 million, while California and Texas together accounted for more than half of reported incidents. California logged 6,297 attacks in 2025, including 1,131 in Los Angeles, according to the company, which said cable vandalism remains a nationwide problem involving thousands of incidents each year.
