Chiliz said five Brazilian soccer club fan tokens went live on Solana on August 10, expanding distribution for Flamengo (MENGO), Palmeiras (VERDAO), Fluminense (FLU), Vasco da Gama (VASCO) and Sao Paulo FC (SPFC). The tokens continue to exist across Solana, Base and Chiliz Chain with a single unified supply rather than as separate wrapped versions, using LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token standard to coordinate movement between networks. Chiliz described Chiliz Chain as "the absolute foundational layer for Fan Tokens," while positioning Solana and Base as additional distribution networks for assets natively issued and governed on Chiliz Chain. The company said Solana's sub-second block times and sub-cent transaction fees make it suitable for sports fans and retail token holders, and said adding Solana support broadens fan-token distribution into an ecosystem with a large base of global on-chain traders. All five clubs compete in Brazil's top-flight Serie A. Chiliz said Flamengo has more than 40 million fans, and said the tokens can be used through Socios.com for governance votes on club-related decisions. Holders do not receive ownership stakes, revenue rights or equity in the clubs. Chiliz also warned that fan tokens are speculative crypto-assets that can suffer extreme price swings and potentially complete investment loss, and advised users to verify official mint addresses because imitation tokens can circulate on public networks.
